Silver and Green
Soft sheets slipping over his skin as he dreams; of power, and corruption and
the heady scent of green and silver. He wishes, sometimes, that he fit in more in
his house; but the banner flies above his head at the Quidditch stands and he
sits with his book, outcast unclean.
Hogwarts is a prestigious school, and friendships are not just about where your
loyalty lies; Peter has loyalty to Gryffindor, and to Dumbledore, and most
especially to James – but what he doesn’t have is scarlet and gold. His
blood is impure, the result of his mother’s dalliances, and his pockets are
empty of the Galleons his friends spend so frivolously.
In his own private oblivion none of this matters, however; he is wrapped in his
lover’s tender arms. Bedsheets silver for the sickles in his tightly clenched
hands; bedsheets green for the curse that would damn him for thirteen years.
Peter dreams and listens thoughtfully to another boy’s heartbeat. Loyalty is
useless to him now.
